It is the best pack we list for that. It exists specifically to teach, with over 900 quests across 24 chapters and each major mod getting its own. Progression is almost unaltered, so everything learned here works the same way in other packs. A mixed group does particularly well, since experienced players can use it to learn the mods they always skipped.

6 GB, which is FTB's recommended figure against a 4 GB minimum, on a pack of around 212 entries. Early on it runs lighter than a comparable kitchen sink because people are learning rather than mass-producing. Later, once somebody is deep into Mekanism or Applied Energistics, real factories appear and the memory gets used properly.

No, and the FTB Team say so directly. Recipes and progression are almost unaltered, which is the entire point: what you learn transfers. There is an Overloaded element with some harder custom recipes, but that is not the same as an expert pack rewriting progression across mods. If your group wants that experience, Infinity Evolved's Expert mode is the pack for it.

On purpose. The FTB Team deliberately left out certain widely-used mods so players reach for tools and machines from mods they would otherwise never try. On a teaching pack that is the mechanism working: if your favorite storage or power mod is absent, the chapter structure is nudging you toward learning an alternative you would have skipped.

FTB Chunks force-loads chunks only while a team member is online unless you change it. Set `force_load_mode` to `ALWAYS` in the `force_loading` group of the FTB Chunks server config and restart, editing the copy under `world/serverconfig` on an existing world. This matters more here than elsewhere, because a beginner who returns to a stopped machine usually assumes they built it wrong.

Unlikely. It has been settled since mid-2024, which makes it a good choice for a group working through the chapters over months. Back up before any version change anyway, and read the notes for removed mods, since on a teaching pack a dropped mod can take out an entire chapter's worth of what somebody was learning.
