Why does a recipe from the wiki not work on our server?

Because some of this pack's content depends on your world's generation seed, including secret alchemical recipes that are unique to each world. That is deliberate design rather than a fault. Treat external guides as a general reference for how systems work rather than as exact recipes, and use the pack's own in-game research to find what applies on your server.

How much RAM does a Create Above and Beyond server need?

Can we start over if we do not like our world?

You can, but think twice. On most packs a new world just costs you your builds. Here some recipes are tied to the world's generation seed, so regenerating also changes content your group may have already researched and planned around. If you are going to restart, do it early, and take a backup of the old world before you do in case anyone objects.

Is this pack good for players new to Create?

It is a demanding introduction, but a very good teacher. Create: Above and Beyond is built by simibubi, the author of Create itself, which is why it understands the mod better than packs that simply include it. It is a structured technological journey with a single destination: the moon. About fifty inventions stand between you and getting there, and each one has to be genuinely automated rather than hand-crafted a few times.

The pace is deliberate. The early game is slow and ambitious, then accelerates sharply once your first real production lines come online, and by the late game your whole factory is being tested at once as products flow into a Data Centre that programs the guidance computer of your spaceship. Along the way you get automation tasks that no other pack asks for: mixing and washing for crystals, controlled explosions, chromatic colour shifting, firing lasers at minecarts.

There is also an economy. Taking a profession or running errands earns coins you can spend at a market, so a group can divide labour rather than everyone grinding the same materials. This is the fact that makes Above and Beyond different to host. Some content here varies with your world's generation seed, including secret alchemical recipes that are unique to your world. That has two consequences worth taking seriously.

First, do not regenerate the world casually. On most packs a fresh world costs you your builds; here it also changes recipes your group may have already researched. Second, be careful with wikis and videos: a recipe someone finds online may simply not be the recipe on your server, and that is expected rather than a bug.

6 GB for a focused pack

We set 6 GB for a group of around six. At around 136 entries this is one of the smaller packs we list, and it is not trying to be a kitchen sink, so the memory goes almost entirely to what your players build rather than to mod registries.

What they build is the catch. Create factories are constantly moving blocks and items, and this pack requires large ones by design, so an established base does steady continuous work. That grows with progress rather than with player count.

Divide the labour

The professions, errands and market system exist so that a group does not have to grind everything collectively. On a server it is worth agreeing early who is doing what, because the pack's progression assumes automation rather than stockpiles, and four people building four separate half-factories is slower than four people building one good one.

Java 8 and a finished pack

Minecraft 1.16.5 here runs on Java 8, which the installer selects. The pack has been finished since the end of 2021, so a world you start now will not be disturbed by updates. Back up before any change, particularly given the seed-dependent content.
