Minecraft Server RAM Calculator

The amount of RAM your Minecraft server needs depends on several factors: the number of players, whether you're using mods or plugins, and the size of your world. A small vanilla server with 2-5 players can work with 2-3GB, while a heavily modded server with 20+ players may need 8-12GB or more.

For a vanilla (unmodified) Minecraft server, 2GB of RAM is sufficient for 1-5 players. For 5-10 players, we recommend 3-4GB. For 10-20 players, 4-6GB is ideal. Each additional player roughly uses 100MB of RAM.

Modded Minecraft servers require significantly more RAM. A light modpack (15-30 mods) needs about 4-6GB, a medium modpack (30-50 mods) needs 6-8GB, and heavy modpacks (50+ mods like FTB or ATM) may need 8-12GB or more, depending on the mods installed.
