Cobbleverse takes Cobblemon and builds an actual Pokemon journey on top of it. Where the official Cobblemon pack gives you a sandbox to catch things in, LUMYVERSE gives you a structured run: regions to travel, gym leaders to beat in order, badges to collect, an Elite Four and a Champion at the end.

The mechanic that makes it work is the level cap. Your Pokemon stop gaining experience at the current cap until you beat the next key trainer, so you cannot grind past a gym you are stuck on. That single rule turns the whole pack from a collection game into a progression game, and it is the reason Cobbleverse plays so differently from the mod it is built on.

It commits to the theme elsewhere too. Vanilla hostile mobs and hunger are switched off by default, so this is not a survival server with Pokemon bolted on. You also get mega evolutions, Dynamax and Tera mechanics, raid dens, trainer NPCs that roam and challenge you, and a Pokedex goal that spans the full national list. It suits groups who want to play through a region together rather than build a base.

Hosting Cobbleverse

6 GB, which is what LUMYVERSE ask for

LUMYVERSE list 4 GB as a minimum and 6 GB or more for a multiplayer server, and 6 GB is what we set. The load here is not the same as plain Cobblemon: on top of wild Pokemon as entities, Cobbleverse continuously spawns trainer NPCs around every player, each of which carries a full team. That is a per-player cost, so a busy server grows faster than the mod list suggests.

Trainer spawns are your main dial

If the server gets heavy, this is where to look first. Trainer behavior is configured in config/rctmod-server.toml, and on a dedicated server the world copy at world/serverconfig/rctmod-server.toml is what takes effect:

maxTrainersPerPlayer = 12
maxTrainersTotal = 60
globalSpawnChance = 0.85
spawnIntervalTicks = 120

Lowering maxTrainersTotal and maxTrainersPerPlayer reduces entity load directly without touching the Pokemon side. The same file holds initialLevelCap, which Cobbleverse sets to 25 rather than the mod's own default.

Players stuck at level 25

Expect this question on day one, because it looks like a bug and is not. New players cap at level 25 until they beat the first key trainers. If someone genuinely needs to be moved on, the progression commands are:

/rctmod player set series kanto @s
/rctmod player set progress after kanto_champion_blue

Regions, versions and backups

Extra regions are not on by default. They are enabled in game with /function setup:<region>, one region at a time, followed by a restart. Do that deliberately, with the group, rather than switching everything on at once.

On updating, LUMYVERSE warn that item IDs have changed across major versions, most notably with Mega Showdown, and that items with changed IDs simply disappear. Back up before any version jump, and treat 1.7.41 specifically as a build to avoid, since it shipped server startup crashes that 1.7.42 fixed.

Level cap

Stuck at 25 is intended

Experience stops at the cap until the next key trainer is beaten. It is the pack's progression, not a bug.

Performance

Trainers spawn per player

Each player gets their own roaming trainers with full teams, so lower maxTrainersPerPlayer before adding RAM.

Updating

Items can lose their IDs

LUMYVERSE warn that some items vanish across major versions. Back up and empty valuable storage first.

How to install Cobbleverse on your server
