How much RAM does a DarkRPG server need?

Can I add Forge mods to DarkRPG?

Not to this edition. The current pack is Fabric on Minecraft 1.20.1, so a Forge jar built for the same Minecraft version will not load. Check the loader on any download before you upload it into `mods/`, and give your players the identical files, because a mismatched mod list is rejected when they try to connect.

How does the economy work between players?

The pack ships a full currency system with player-to-player trading, shops and auction houses, so people can sell to each other rather than just to villagers. There is also a casino for spending winnings. All of it is designed around having other players present, which is why DarkRPG makes more sense on a server than in single player.

Is it playable for a group at different skill levels?

Reasonably, because character building is so open. DarkRPG is the pack that tries hardest to make Minecraft feel like an online RPG rather than a survival game with quests bolted on. Character creation alone is a series of choices: an aspect, an origin, a type, a divine aspect and a class, mixed and matched, so two players who start together are genuinely playing different characters.

From there it runs on the systems you would expect from an MMO. Over 1800 quests across a task-based log and an advancement-based one, skills that level separately for magic, combat and mining, spells and enchanting tables, custom weapons and armor, and mounts that fly and carry passengers.

What makes it a server pack specifically is the economy. There is a currency, player-to-player trading, shops, auction houses and even a casino, plus a party system with its own chat and a built-in claim system to keep your things safe. Those features are meaningless alone and the whole point with a group. GamerPotion builds it on Fabric 1.20.1 with performance as a stated goal, which is unusual for a pack this size. It suits groups who want a shared world with roles, ranks and an economy.

It ships an economy and a claim system

Unlike most RPG packs, you do not need to add anything to run a semi-public server. The currency, shops, auction houses and trading are already there, and so is a world claim system for protecting builds. That matters when you are choosing between packs: several exploration and RPG packs we list ship no protection at all, so an open server on those needs a whitelist or a mod you add yourself. DarkRPG does not.

Because of that, it tolerates a larger and less closely acquainted group than most of the packs here. If your plan is a server where people you half know trade with each other, this is the one built for it.

Party play and where the load goes

The party system, party chat and team waypoints all assume people are playing together, and that is also the cheaper way to run it. As with any RPG pack, the cost is concentrated in custom entities and in players spread across the map, rather than in machines ticking in one place.

Loader, Java and updating

This is a Fabric pack on Minecraft 1.20.1, which means Java 17, selected at install, and it also means a Forge 1.20.1 mod will not load on it. Check the loader before uploading anything into mods/. The pack updates regularly, so back up before jumping builds, which the panel offers during an update, and have every player update their client on the same day.
