Pokemon Elysium is a Fabric modpack for Minecraft 1.20.1 built around Cobblemon, the mod that fills the overworld with catchable creatures, turn-based battles and party management. Chubblezap first assembled it for the Pokemon Elysium community server, and that origin shows: around 182 mods are tuned for a shared world rather than a solo save.
The hook is the mix. Alongside the catching loop sits a layer of low-tech steampunk, so your journey can swing between hunting a rare spawn in the hills and building gear-driven contraptions back at base. Adventure and combat additions keep exploration from feeling like a straight grind between battles.
It suits groups who want a Cobblemon world that feels bigger than vanilla plus creatures, friends who trade and battle each other, and server owners who liked the idea of a community server's pack but want their own copy running privately, with room to add their own Fabric mods.
Hosting Pokemon Elysium
RAM and what drives load
We recommend 6 GB for Pokemon Elysium with about six players online. The weight comes from Cobblemon's spawning: every player exploring pulls in fresh creature entities around them, each with AI, models and battle state, on top of 182 mods loading their content at startup. Groups that scatter across different biomes cost more than a group travelling together. If tick time climbs, profile before adding memory:
/spark profiler start
/spark profiler stop
World pregeneration and chunk loading
New chunks are the expensive moment on this pack, because terrain generation and the first wave of Cobblemon spawns land at the same time. Pregenerating a ring around spawn before players arrive smooths out the first evenings of exploration. On Fabric 1.20.1, Chunky handles it:
/chunky radius 3000
/chunky start
Keep the radius modest, then let the border grow as the group travels further for rarer creatures.
Java version and updating
Minecraft 1.20.1 runs on Java 17, so leave the server on that runtime rather than jumping to a newer one. The latest build is 1.2.1. Captured creatures, parties and PC boxes are saved with the world, so take a backup before switching builds and keep the client pack on the exact same version as the server, or players get rejected at login with a mod mismatch.
