Start at 6 GB. That covers the base pack plus a normal amount of Mekanism, Applied Energistics and Industrial Foregoing machinery. The figure to watch is not world size but how many automated bases are ticking at once, since a chunk loaded network keeps working whether or not its owner is online. Raise memory when tick time starts climbing.

There is no fixed ceiling. Load scales with how much each person automates and how far apart their bases sit, because ATM7 spreads a group across the overworld, the Mining Dimension, the Nether and the End. One shared base is far lighter than the same people running separate factories in separate dimensions. Add RAM as bases multiply.

Usually yes, but treat it as real maintenance. Stop the server, take a full backup, read the build notes for recipe changes or removed mods, then apply the new build and start once with nobody connected. If a mod was dropped between builds, its blocks vanish from loaded chunks, which is exactly what the backup covers.

Adding a mod on top of the pack works as long as every player installs the same jar and the pack version matches on both sides. Removing one is riskier, since anything already placed in the world leaves holes when its mod goes. Test any addition on a copy of the world before it reaches the live server.

ATM7 is the Forge 1.18.2 build of the line and ATM8 moves it to 1.19.2, so mod lists, recipes and world generation differ between them. Stay on ATM7 when you have a world you care about or want mods that never made the jump. ATM7 To The Sky is the skyblock take rather than a newer version.

The ATM Star is the pack's final craft and the goal most groups organise around. Its ingredient chain runs through Allthemodium, Vibranium and Unobtainium and through most of the tech and magic mods in the pack, so a server working towards one usually ends up with several specialised bases instead of one player doing everything.
