How much RAM does the HeroPack-Verse server need?

Groups of heroes who stay in one city or base are cheap to run, while players scattering in different directions with flight powers cost far more. If you plan a larger roleplay community, raise the RAM and keep a world border so exploration stays within a pregenerated area.

How do I update the pack without breaking heroes?

Back up the server first, then install the newer build. Because HeroPacks are content the client also needs, every player must update to the same pack version before joining, otherwise suits can load incorrectly or vanish. Updating the server and clients together on one evening avoids a confusing period where half the group sees different heroes.

Can I add or remove mods or HeroPacks?

You can, but every change has to be mirrored on each player's client, since FiskHeroes needs matching hero content on both sides. Forge 1.7.10 predates the built-in world generation tools of modern versions, so the cheapest fix for lag spikes is a sensible view distance and a world border around the area you actually use. A fast flier generating new terrain at full speed is the heaviest thing a FiskHeroes server does. Agree on a play area early, explore it once while the server is quiet, and keep the border tight so heroes are not sprinting into raw, ungenerated land.

Java 8 and updating

Forge 1.7.10 runs on Java 8, and newer Java versions will not start it, so keep the server on the Java 8 image. Version 2.4.1 is the current build. HeroPacks are content, which means the server and every client must run the same pack version or heroes fail to load properly. Before switching builds, take a backup, update the server, then have every player update their client to the matching version before they rejoin.
