Keen Games dropped the news Flameborn have been waiting almost three years for: Enshrouded leaves Early Access on October 15, 2026. The release-date reveal landed on Steam alongside a short cinematic trailer, and the studio promised more details on optimization, QoL changes, and 1.0 content drops across the rest of the summer.

For server owners, October is now a fixed planning date. Expect a player spike, a save-format migration, and almost certainly the biggest content patch the game has ever shipped. Here is what was confirmed, what we still do not know, and what to do with your dedicated server between now and launch.

Release Date Confirmed: October 15, 2026

The announcement is short and unambiguous: 1.0 ships on October 15, 2026 on Steam. There was no padding, no roadmap dump, no laundry list of features. Just a release date, a trailer, and a promise that more news will follow before launch.

What that means in practice:

  • The Early Access period that started in January 2024 closes after roughly 21 months.
  • 1.0 is locked to Steam first. No console date was announced in the reveal, even though enshrouded release date xbox and enshrouded release date ps5 are two of the most autocompleted queries Google sees for this game right now. PS5 and Xbox players will need to wait for a separate announcement.
  • Keen explicitly mentioned improvements, optimization, QoL changes, as well as all the new stuff are coming with 1.0, so this is a full content patch, not a version-number flip.

What Keen Games Showed in the Reveal Trailer

The trailer is light on hard details and heavy on mood, which is a deliberate choice. A few things stood out on the watch-through:

  • A clearly larger world. Sweeping vista shots show terrain styles we have not seen in the current Early Access map. Expect at least one new biome at minimum, and a likely map expansion to support it.
  • Glider traversal upgrades. Multiple shots show two players gliding side-by-side at heights that look higher than the current cap. If gliders are getting reworked, that is a meaningful co-op multiplayer change, not a cosmetic one.
  • Shroud-zone combat at scale. Encounters with grouped mobs and what looks like a new boss-tier shroud creature. Worth bookmarking for guides on dungeon difficulty scaling after launch.
  • No 1.0 version number on screen. The reveal stayed branded as 1.0 without committing to a sub-version like 1.0.0.1, which is typical when a studio is still cutting content from the build.

The trailer also confirmed something the autocomplete data already implied: a lot of the player base has dropped off and is sitting on the sidelines waiting for 1.0. enshrouded 1.0 release date and enshrouded 1.0 wipe are both top-autocomplete queries today. That is a player base that is ready to come back the day patch notes land.

What Should Server Owners Do Before October 15?

This is the part most coverage will skip. From a hosting perspective, here is your pre-launch checklist:

Enshrouded co-op survival with a player cooking raw wolf meat over a campfire near scattered shelters

  • Lock in your tier now, not in October. Active Enshrouded servers in our panel currently run comfortably on 4-6 GB for 4 players. For 1.0 launch night, plan for 8 GB minimum and budget for 12 GB if you are running a 10-16 player community server. Content patches always bump memory ceilings.
  • Back up your savegame folder before patch day. Keen has not announced a wipe, but a ## migration step on launch day is almost certain. Pull a clean backup of your savegame directory via FTP on October 14 and label it pre-1-0-backup. If the world fails to migrate or you hit a corruption bug, you can roll back without losing months of base-building.
  • Schedule a maintenance window. First-day patches frequently push hotfixes within hours. Put a maintenance banner on your community Discord for Oct 15 16:00 UTC -> 23:00 UTC so players know connection issues are normal during the rollout.
  • Pre-stage your mod stack. Enshrouded does not have an official mod loader yet, but several Nexus-distributed UI and difficulty mods exist. Anything you load via the Mods folder will need to be re-validated against the 1.0 build. Do not assume current Early Access mods carry over.
  • Decide your server-list policy. If your community has been on a private password-locked server through Early Access, decide before launch whether you stay private (lower churn, no toxicity wave) or open up to absorb returning players. There is no right answer, but launch week is the wrong week to decide on the fly.

Will Your Save Survive 1.0?

Short answer: probably, but back it up anyway. enshrouded 1.0 wipe is a top-autocomplete query because the community is openly worried about this. Keen Games has not announced a forced wipe, and historically they have preserved Early Access saves across major updates. Update 8 (Forging the Path), April 2026, kept saves intact.

That said, 1.0 is a different beast from a content update. If a new world generator ships, or if the biome system gets reworked, the safest assumption is your existing world will load but new chunks will not generate cleanly into old terrain. That is the same pattern Valheim, Vintage Story, and Minecraft all hit at major version bumps. A fresh world made on 1.0 is almost always the better long-term option for a server community.

We will update this post the moment Keen confirms the migration story.

Verdict: Worth Coming Back For?

A confirmed release date is the signal a lot of lapsed Flameborn were waiting for. Three months is enough notice to rally a community Discord, schedule a launch-night raid, and get servers provisioned without panic-buying. Whether 1.0 is worth your time depends entirely on the optimization and content drops Keen promised across the rest of the summer, but the date itself is solid news.

If you sat out the last two updates because content was thin, this is your bookmark to set. If you have been running a server the whole way through, this is your prompt to start the backup-and-scale conversation now, not on October 14.

Host Your Enshrouded Server with DoomHosting

If you are spinning up a 1.0 launch-night server for your group, we can have you online in under 10 minutes. Every DoomHosting Enshrouded server ships with:

  • Instant deployment on Ryzen 9 hardware (the launch-week performance buffer you actually need)
  • Full FTP access so the savegame backup workflow above takes one click
  • DDoS protection built in (October 15 will draw streamers and the trolls that follow them)
  • 24/7 support if migration day goes sideways
  • One-click scaling between 4 GB and 16 GB without rebuilding the world

Lock in your 1.0 server now while there is no waitlist, and we will be ready when October 15 lands.

See you on the other side of the Shroud, Flameborn.
