Does my world save when the server restarts?

Yes, with one setting to know about: The Forest starts a NEW game when the init type is set to New, and loads your existing save when it is set to Continue. Start your first session on New, then switch the Init Type to Continue in the panel's Startup tab so every restart loads your world. Our getting started guide walks through it.

Why does The Forest ask for a Steam account token?

The Forest uses an optional Steam game server token (created for app ID 242760) so player position and inventory persist between sessions. You can generate one free at Steam's game server account page and paste it into the panel's Startup tab. The server runs fine without it, but returning players respawn fresh.

Can my friends on the same server play while I am offline?

Yes. That is the point of a dedicated server: it runs 24/7 in our datacenter, so your group can build, explore the caves, and defend the base whenever they want, no host required.

Can I change plan later?

Yes, you can add or remove RAM at any time from your control panel and only pay the difference for the rest of your billing period. The Forest runs comfortably at the starting tier for a normal co-op group.
