Your SteamID64 is the 17-digit number that identifies your Steam account. It always starts with 7656119, and it never changes, even if you rename yourself or change your profile URL.
Several of our game servers use it to decide who is an administrator: Astroneer grants admin by SteamID64, and Valheim and Rust use it for admin, ban and allowlist entries. Your Steam display name is not enough for any of them, because names are not unique and can be changed at any time.
The Quickest Way: The Steam Client
This works with no third-party website and takes about thirty seconds.
- Open the Steam client on your PC.
- Click Steam in the top-left corner, then Settings (on Mac it is Steam then Preferences).
- Open the Interface section.
- Tick Display Steam URL address bar when available, then click OK.
- Click your profile name at the top of the window and choose Profile.
An address bar now appears above your profile page. It shows something like:
steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198012345678
The 17-digit number at the end is your SteamID64.
If You See a Custom Name Instead of Numbers
If you set a custom profile URL at some point, the address bar shows your custom name rather than the number:
steamcommunity.com/id/yourcustomname
The number still exists, it is just hidden behind the custom URL. Two ways to get at it:
Temporarily remove the custom URL. Go to your profile, click Edit Profile, clear the Custom URL field, and save. Your profile falls back to the /profiles/7656119... form. You can set the custom URL again afterwards.
Or use a lookup tool. Paste your full profile URL into a SteamID lookup site such as steamid.io and read the steamID64 value it returns. These tools only read public profile data.
On Steam Deck or Mobile
The Steam mobile app does not show the number. Open your profile in a normal browser instead: go to steamcommunity.com, sign in, click your name, then Profile, and read the address bar using the same rules as above.
Checking You Have the Right Number
A valid SteamID64 is:
- Exactly 17 digits
- Always starts with 7656119
- All numbers, no letters, no
STEAM_0:1:...prefix
If your number looks like STEAM_0:1:12345678 or [U:1:24691357], those are older Steam ID formats. Our panel needs the 17-digit SteamID64 version, and any lookup tool will convert between them.
Where You Use It
- Astroneer: on your server's Overview page, in the Server admin card, alongside your Steam name. See getting started with your Astroneer server.
- Valheim and Rust: in the Player Manager, for admin, ban and allowlist entries.
Paste the number on its own, with no spaces and no STEAM_ prefix.
