What Claiming Means
A fresh Satisfactory dedicated server is unclaimed when it first boots. Until someone claims it, nobody can:
- Load or create saves
- Change server settings
- Run admin commands
Claiming a server is a one-time action that turns the first connecting player into the administrator. After that, the admin can grant access to other players.
Step 1: Make Sure the Server Is Running
In the DoomHosting Panel, open your Satisfactory server and confirm the status is Running (green). If it's Offline, click Start and wait for it to boot.
You'll also need:
- Server IP and Game Port from the Allocations section
Step 2: Add the Server in Satisfactory
- Launch Satisfactory and open Server Manager from the main menu.
- Click Add Server in the bottom-left corner.
- Paste your address in the format
IP:PORT(for example123.45.67.89:7777). - Click Confirm.
The server appears in your list with the label Server offline initially, then switches to Server unclaimed once it can be reached.
Step 3: Claim the Server
- Click your server in the list. The right panel switches to the claim UI.
- Set a Server Name. This is what shows up in everyone's Server Manager.
- Set an Admin Password. You'll need this every time you connect from a different device, so store it safely.
- Click Claim Server.
The server now shows as Healthy and you're its administrator.
Step 4 (optional): Add a Player Password
The Admin Password lets you manage the server. If you also want to restrict who can join the world:
- With your server selected in Server Manager, go to the Settings tab.
- Find Server Settings โ Require password to join and enable it.
- Set a player password and click Save.
This is a separate password from the admin one. Share it with friends only.
Step 5: Start or Load a Game
- Switch to the Sessions tab.
- To start fresh: click Create Game, give the save a name, choose a starting area, and click Create Game.
- To use an existing save: see our guide on uploading an existing save.
- Once the world is loaded, click Join Game at the bottom right.
Granting Admin to Another Player
Only one Admin Password exists, but you can share it. To revoke access, change the password:
- In Server Manager, select your server.
- Settings โ Server Settings โ Change Administrator Password.
- Set a new password. Old admins will lose access until you give them the new one.
Troubleshooting
- Server stays "Server offline" in Server Manager: the panel shows the server as Running, but your client can't reach it. Most often: wrong IP, wrong port, or the game port isn't open in your firewall. Check your Allocations.
- "Wrong admin password" after a restart: Satisfactory stores the admin password in the save file, not the server config. If the save was restored from backup it may have a different password.
- "Failed to claim server": usually a version mismatch between client and server. Make sure your Steam Betas branch matches the server's
Branch Name. - Forgot the admin password: stop the server in the panel, delete the active save file via the File Manager, and start fresh. The server will be unclaimed again. Back up the save first if you want to keep the world.
