Re-Logic spent four months telling us Terraria 1.4.5.7 was close. On August 19, 2026 it finally landed. 1.4.5.7 is out now on PC, it is the last planned hotfix for the Bigger and Boulder update, and it is a far bigger patch than the version number suggests.

If you run a dedicated server there is more here for you than the usual weapon balance pass. Re-Logic quietly fixed a set of long-standing multiplayer and server bugs, including a slot leak that has been making servers look full when they were not. Here is what shipped, and what you need to do about it.

Terraria 1.4.5.7 Release Date: Out Now on PC

The short answer: PC has it, console and mobile do not yet.

Re-Logic originally planned a simultaneous PC, console and mobile launch, the same way 1.4.5 rolled out. Gamescom forced a change of plan. Rather than hold PC back while certification ran, the team shipped PC on August 19 and pushed the console and mobile builds straight into submission so both processes could run in parallel.

That means there is no console or mobile date yet. Re-Logic's wording is simply that those versions arrive "just as soon as those submissions clear." Platform certification is out of a developer's hands, so treat any specific date you see elsewhere as a guess.

One more thing worth knowing: 1.4.5.7 is billed as the last hotfix for Bigger and Boulder, barring a critical issue that forces a 1.4.5.8.

37 New Items, and Gem Staves Are a Different Weapon Now

The Items section of the changelog adds 37 new items, which is a lot for something still officially called a hotfix. Highlights include the Daybloom Staff, Glacier Fang, Ruinous Staff, Arc Surge, the Ouroboros Ring, the Mobius Strip, the Phoenix Quiver and the Seraph Necklace.

The most interesting change is not a new item at all. Gem staves were completely reworked. Each gem now enchants that staff's shots with its own effect, and equipping the matching gem robe applies the same enchantment. Match the staff and the robe and the shot damage goes up on top of that. Re-Logic also cut the metal cost of gem staves by roughly 30%, which makes early mage builds far less painful to assemble.

Two smaller additions will see more use than their patch notes suggest. Kinship Peaches let you empower any pal, and the Guide To Old Style Parkour restores several player movement techniques that 1.4.5 removed. That second one is a direct answer to a long-running community complaint.

Mana Was Rebuilt From the Ground Up

Mage players get the single biggest mechanical change in the patch. Mana regeneration was reworked, not tuned:

  • The mana regeneration delay is gone entirely
  • Mana now regenerates while you attack, at 5% of the normal rate
  • Standing still doubles the full regeneration rate, roughly 20% better than 1.4.5
  • Regeneration ramps up faster when your mana is low
  • The base regeneration rate is 13% lower to compensate
  • You can now fire mana weapons without enough mana, at 40% attack speed

Mana stars now grant Mana Surge, a 20% magic damage buff that decays over two seconds, and Super Mana Potions restore 400 instead of 300. The net effect is that a mage no longer has to stop fighting and stand still to refill. On a busy server that is the difference between a class that contributes through a whole boss fight and one that spends half of it out of ammunition.

The Multiplayer Fixes Are the Real Story for Server Owners

This is the part that got no headlines and matters most if you host. The Multiplayer section is short, but every line in it is a real server bug:

  • Empty servers now only start updating when a client fully connects. An idle server stops burning CPU simulating a world nobody is watching.
  • Servers no longer reserve slots for clients that connect and immediately disconnect. This is the slot leak behind the classic "server says full, nobody is on it" report.
  • Servers no longer send data to client slots whose clients have already disconnected.
  • NPC damage handling on high-latency servers was improved, reducing desyncs. If your players are spread across continents, this is the one you will actually feel.
  • Servers now log a message when a player disconnects before joining the world, which makes failed-join troubleshooting far easier.
  • Steam hosts now correctly send the kick reason when someone who is not a friend tries to join.
  • Hotkey dashes and player direction changes now sync properly.

The bug fix section adds more of the same. Dropped boss bags are no longer deleted by the server, extending rope into unloaded chunks no longer crashes multiplayer, and King Slime, Deerclops and the Moon Lord's left hand all picked up desync fixes. True Eyes of Cthulhu now synchronise their attack patterns with Moon Lord, which removes some genuinely undodgeable situations in co-op.

How to Update Your Server, and the tModLoader Catch

For a vanilla server the update is straightforward. Re-Logic published the 1.4.5.7 dedicated server package alongside the client, and your server has to run the same version as your players or they will bounce off with a version mismatch. Back up your world before you update. Every time, no exceptions.

The catch is modded servers. tModLoader's stable branch still targets Terraria 1.4.4, not 1.4.5. The tModLoader team confirmed in the July 2026 State of the Game that the 1.4.5 update will take "many months still", with the work happening on the 1.4.5-dev beta branch. A tModLoader server does not get 1.4.5.7, and updating one expecting these fixes will only break your mod list. If you run modded, sit tight. What Comes After 1.4.5.7

Assuming no critical issue forces a 1.4.5.8, the next update is 1.4.6, Crossplay Phase One. Re-Logic has been building toward it for most of 2026 and has confirmed it as the immediate next milestone, rolling out in two phases.

There is a roadmap in progress too. Re-Logic and DR Studios held joint planning sessions at Gamescom to map out future Terraria updates, and the results will be shared in a later State of the Game. For a game that turned fifteen this year, that is a healthy amount of runway left.
