Minecraft Symbols

Most of them are not on a keyboard, so copy them instead. Click a symbol above to copy it, then press Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on Mac) in chat, on a sign, in a book or in an anvil. Minecraft draws it with its own built-in font, so everyone on the server sees the same symbol.

The symbol was lost because server.properties was saved or read with a different text encoding, which happens easily with raw symbols in that file. Use the "Copy for server.properties" button: it writes every symbol as a \u escape (like \u2764 for a heart), which the server reads correctly on every version, however the file is encoded. Paste the whole motd= line into server.properties and restart the server.

Not in vanilla. Chat does not accept the § character, so color codes typed that way never reach other players. On a Paper or Spigot server, a plugin like EssentialsX lets players with permission use & codes instead, and command blocks or /tellraw with JSON text can color any message.

Most do. Bedrock ships its own font, and nearly every symbol here renders there too, including hearts, stars, arrows and card suits. A few rarer glyphs, mostly box drawing lines and shapes, can show up as empty boxes on some devices, so test the line in-game before you put it on a sign everyone sees.

Yes. Paste them onto a sign, into a book and quill or into an item name in the anvil, the same way as in chat. They also work on name tags, in /msg, in team names and in tellraw text.
