What size does a Minecraft server icon need to be?

Minecraft requires the server icon to be exactly 64×64 pixels in PNG format. Any other size will be ignored by the client. Our tool automatically converts any image you upload to the correct dimensions.

Where do I put the server-icon.png file?

Place the server-icon.png file in your server's root directory — the same folder that contains server.properties and the world folder. On most hosts (including DoomHosting), you can upload it via the file manager in your control panel. Restart the server after uploading for the icon to appear.

Why does my server icon look blurry in Minecraft?

Your icon will look blurry if the source image has low detail or was heavily compressed. For sharpest results, start with a high-resolution square image and let our tool downscale it in one step. Also, Minecraft renders icons with nearest-neighbor scaling in the server list, so images with lots of fine detail may look rough — simple logos work best.

Does the server icon support transparency?

Yes — server icons support PNG alpha transparency. Any transparent areas in your source image are preserved. This is useful for round logos or icons that shouldn't fill the full square.

Does it have to be a PNG file?

Yes, the file must be saved as server-icon.png (PNG format specifically). JPG, GIF, and WebP are NOT supported by the Minecraft server. Our tool always outputs a proper PNG regardless of the format you upload.
