How do I enter admin commands in ARK?

Open the console with the Tab key on PC (or the pause menu on console). In single-player, type the command and press Enter. On a server you first have to authenticate: open the console and run enablecheats followed by your server admin password, then you can run commands. Our builders above write the full command for you, so you just copy and paste.

What is the difference between cheat and admincheat?

They do the same thing, but admincheat also announces the action to other admins and works from the chat window, while cheat is the classic prefix used in single-player and the console. If a command does nothing on a server, make sure you authenticated with enablecheats and try the admincheat prefix using the toggle above.

What is the difference between GFI and GiveItemNum?

Both give you an item. GFI uses a readable part of the item's blueprint name (like Rex_Saddle), which is easy to remember and does not change between updates. GiveItemNum uses the item's numeric ID, which is faster to type but harder to look up. The GFI builder above is the recommended way for most items.

Where do I find creature class strings and item names?

The creature dropdown above already has the correct class string for each creature, so you do not need to look them up. For items, the GFI name is the distinctive part of the blueprint path, such as MetalIngot or Rex_Saddle. Community databases and the ARK Wiki list the full item and creature IDs if you need one that is not in the picker.

Why are my admin commands not working?

The most common cause on a server is not being authenticated: run enablecheats with your admin password first. Also check you are using the right prefix (admincheat on servers), that the class string or item name is spelled correctly, and that the command exists in your version. Some commands only work in single-player or need cheats enabled in the session settings.

Instantly tame the creature you are looking at (rideable without a saddle).

Tame the targeted creature as if it had been knocked out normally.

Set a color region on the creature you are looking at.

cheat destroymytarget

Destroy the creature or structure you are looking at.

cheat saveworld

Force-save the world immediately.

cheat settimeofday <hh:mm:ss>

Set the in-game time of day.

cheat slomo <multiplier>

Change game speed (1 is normal, higher is faster).

cheat destroywilddinos

Remove all wild creatures so they respawn fresh.

Send a message to everyone on the server.

List all connected players and their IDs.
