Minecraft Give Command Generator

The /give command gives an item to a player. The full form is /give [target] [item] [count], and you can attach extra data to make the item enchanted, renamed, or unbreakable. This generator builds the whole command for you, so you do not have to write the item data by hand.

Minecraft Java changed how item data is written. Versions 1.13 to 1.20.4 use the legacy NBT format with curly braces. Version 1.20.5 introduced data components in square brackets, and 1.21.5 changed the text format again. Pick your exact version above and the generator produces the correct syntax, since a command from the wrong version will not work.

The most common reason is a version mismatch. A command written for 1.20.4 will error on 1.21, and the other way around. Make sure the version selected here matches your server. Also check that the item ID is spelled correctly and that you have permission to run commands.

Yes. Commands ignore the normal enchantment cap, so you can set Sharpness 1000 if you want. The generator suggests the vanilla maximum by default but lets you type any level. Very high levels can behave oddly or do nothing useful, but they will not break the command.

You need operator (OP) status or the matching permission, and cheats must be enabled on a single-player world. On a server, an admin grants OP with the op command, or a permissions plugin can allow specific commands. Once you have permission, paste the generated command into the chat or a command block.
