Hytale Update 3 Is Live - Here Is What Changed
Four weeks into Early Access and Hytale is already rolling out its third major update. The Hypixel Studios team has been moving fast, and Update 3 brings some of the most-requested features yet. Here is a full breakdown of everything new in the patch.
Animal Taming
The most talked-about addition: you can now tame animals in Hytale. Find a friendly creature, have their favourite food in hand, and earn their trust. Tamed animals can be petted, fed, milked, sheared, or even mounted depending on the type. They will not run away from you (unless you hit them) and will greet you when you approach. This is described as an early version of taming, so expect it to grow over time.
User-Placed Map Markers
Drop custom pins anywhere on your map with your own names, icons, and colors. In multiplayer you can share markers with other players, making coordination and exploration a lot smoother. Visibility can be toggled in gameplay settings, and markers can be deleted via the map context menu.
Localization
Brazilian-Portuguese and Russian are now available as in-game language options, marking the start of Hytale's localization effort. More languages are coming in the weeks ahead. A big credit here goes to the community translators who made it happen.
Avatar Presets
You can now save up to 5 different avatar looks and swap between them instantly. No more rebuilding your character from scratch every time you want a different vibe.
Sickles
A new tool type that lets you harvest multiple crops in a single swing. Farmers rejoice.
Climbing Overhaul
Rope climbing has been reworked. You can now side-step, drop down, and rotate around ropes. Vertical movement in Hytale just got a lot more fluid.
Fire Spread and the Goblin Flamethrower
A new fire spread system has been added along with the Goblin Flamethrower, which can be used to unleash flames on nearby enemies. Both are currently Creative mode only, but they lay the groundwork for more fire-based gameplay down the line.
Other Notable Changes
- Shortbows and crossbows can now pull ammo directly from your backpack
- Crude ammo, weapons, and tools now craft instantly
- Shift-drag to quickly transfer items between inventories
- Necromancy summons are faster, more aggressive, and no longer damage their summoner
- New cosmetics: Tweed Hat, Mage Shirt, Spikey Mohawk, Viking Beard, and more
- New blocks: Lime Gravel, Lime Rock, Lime Rubble, Lime Stalactites, and crack variants for ore blocks
- New Taiga spawn locations and Outlander village environment added
- Grass now spreads naturally across the world (random block ticking added)
What Are Chapters?
Beyond regular patches, Hypixel Studios is building what they call Chapters: larger content drops that tell the story of the Cursebreaker arc in Exploration Mode. Each chapter will unfold the narrative piece by piece until the final chapter brings Orbis within reach and the game steps into full release. Worth keeping an eye on.
